Capcom has announced that Resident Evil Re:Verse, the multiplayer game that launched alongside Resident Evil Village, will be shutting down after four years. Designed as a tribute to the franchise, Re:Verse brought together iconic characters from across the Resident Evil series for intense multiplayer battles.
Starting March 3, the game will no longer be available for purchase on digital storefronts, and all DLC sales will be discontinued. Then, on June 29, the game’s servers will officially go offline, rendering it unplayable. As a title meant to celebrate Resident Evil, its closure marks the end of a unique chapter in the series’ multiplayer history.
Resident Evil: Re:Verse Will Shut Down on June 29
“Resident Evil Re:Verse was developed to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Resident Evil series, and the incredible support from players since its release has exceeded our expectations,” stated a recent blog post. “As the franchise enters a new chapter, we believe that Resident Evil Re:Verse has successfully fulfilled its role as a special anniversary celebration.”
“We sincerely appreciate your support for Resident Evil Re:Verse and are truly grateful for the community that has embraced the game. However, we regret to inform you of an upcoming shutdown. We understand this may be disappointing, and we deeply apologize for any inconvenience. Below, you will find a detailed timeline outlining the closure process.”
Resident Evil Re:Verse was first announced in 2021 as a multiplayer companion to Resident Evil Village. Over time, additional content was introduced, coinciding with the release of various Resident Evil remakes. While it never became a mainstream multiplayer hit, it offered a unique experience that appealed to dedicated fans of the franchise.
You can still download and play the game right now, but after March 3, access will be limited to those with a valid code. If the game weren’t shutting down in June, you could have held onto that code until the year 2799.
